“A baby rattle that encourages developmental milestones!”
Being a parent is full of questions. From the moment that rosy cheeked and screaming little one enters your life (months before then, really), you’re focused on giving them the best. The best future, the best clothes, the best toys, the best of everything to help them learn and grow.
I remember with my first, I consulted the internet every single month for his next milestone. When was he supposed to be sitting up? When was he supposed to be crawling? His first words? Tracking me with his eyes? Picking up objects? Solid poop?
Here’s the real question: what can I do to help my baby reach those milestones? Do I need to talk more? Get down on my hands and knees to practice crawling? It’s nice when toys do the work for you. That’s what I love about Smart Noggin. I heard about them at the ABC Kids Expo in Las Vegas last year, and got my first look at their Peek and Seek baby rattle.
So, first of all, this isn’t just any baby rattle, it’s specially designed to encourage your little one to reach those developmental milestones. It’s filled with tiny little blue beads that ‘hide’ inside the rattle when it’s facing up, with one little bead popping out at the top. The idea behind this baby rattle is that your curious little munchkin will wonder where the beads went – similar to the idea behind ‘peek a boo!’.
And because the sphere is clear, you can see the beads that actually make the noise, which encourages your baby to shake the baby rattle – practicing that early motor function. It’s designed well for baby to hold in their chubby little fists and keep playing with for plenty of learning fun.
They’re so young – do those milestones really matter?
Um, heck yeah they do! To anyone questioning the importance of a baby rattle teaching your baby those early lessons, here’s my answer: why do you think pediatricians recommend a visit every 3 months for the first year of your baby’s life? It’s because so much changes that first year. Your precious little one is growing and learning at a phenomenal rate, and if they’re not meeting several milestones, your pediatrician wants to make sure they catch up.
When my son was reaching the point of speech, we noticed quickly that he wasn’t reaching the typical milestone. I kept hearing friends say, ‘Oh, he’ll reach it soon, don’t worry so much!’. But the truth ended up being that he needed tubes. Because it took so long to be diagnosed, he’s in speech therapy right now.
“Great design for a baby rattle encouraging your baby’s developmental milestones. My kid is going to face enough hassles when she’s big enough for brother to terrorize her. I want to give her every advantage possible in the meantime.”Lana Medina
Those milestones matter! When a baby/toddler is continuously not meeting milestones, it’s an indication they need so extra help. And when they get that help at an early age, it can make all the difference!
This baby rattle was thrown, stepped on (by an older brother) and banged against the wall – all with no damage. The dog even helped test out the quality by trying to chew it one time. Unlike my shoes, this baby rattle withstood his teeth.
Do you need it?
So, would a cheap and poorly designed baby rattle suffice for your little one? Your baby will probably still be entertained. It gets the job done. But why give them any old baby rattle when you can give them the one that will help them the most?
When I search for toys for my son, anything at the toy store would probably make him happy. But the ones that help him learn while still being fun to play with are the ones I’m going to pick. Give your little one the best chance possible.
